“Growing Up Wolf”
Update from the Wildlife Science Center

To everyone who has enjoyed meeting Truck and Growly Pants through the Animal Planet Special, "Growing Up Wolf".  Our two lovable pups have grown into adult wolves, full of energy and attitude.  I would love to have the film crew come back to do a "where are they now" update!  That pack has gone through so many changes that we hope to make a sequel!

I want to tell a few highlights:  Rosalyn, the alpha female, was eventually overthrown by the entire pack, led by Mariah.  She put up a characteristically tough fight, but lost in a big way!  Her tough constitution, and our wonderful veterinarian-Dr. Dave-pulled her through, and she is now retired with a wild-caught male from Minnesota who was truckbrought to us as a very young, sickly pup.

Mariah went on to be the alpha female, and fostered a litter of wild-born wolf pups.  The pups were very special, the first wolf litter born on the Menominee Indian Reservation in 75 years.  Their mother was radio-collared in Michigan, but died mysteriously outside of her den when the pups were only 3 weeks old.

Truck, Growly and two other sisters were moved out of the family pack to maintain peace, and the four of them still live together.  Despite predictions to the contrary, Growly did NOT end up as the alpha female, but is in the frustrating position of second in command.

Unfortunately, this economy has not spared us despite the international fame of our wolves.  We are struggling to make ends meet, so we are asking you to help us help the growlywolves!  Any amount of support from you goes such a long way toward meeting the needs of these special animals.  Your donation is tax-deductible, and can be given at one time or spread over several months-your choice. On this website you can find other creative ways to support the wolves or to make your donation.  As always, you and yours are welcome to come and visit us in chilly Minnesota. Bring warm boots and your camera, because these guys are so beautiful up close!

Lastly, thank you for watching the show and sharing in what I live every day-the joys, the struggles and the lessons taught by the important work that this organization is privileged to do!
