Wildlife Handling Class
This course focuses on the needs of veterinary technicians, zoo caretakers, and animal control officers to understand the skills and equipment associated with wildlife capture, chemical immobilization, and patient monitoring.
This course is one of the most extensive chemical immobilization courses in North America and includes hand-on labs with captive wildlife.
This unique course emphasizes professional and humane animal handling and covers practical techniques to maximize field success and human and animal safety
Participants will learn how to contribute significantly to a wildlife handling operation and strengthens their ability to assist veterinarians in the field, as well as, veterinarians working in situations involving urban or captive animals.
Labs will include practice of drug delivery systems with targets and chemical immobilization of captive wildlife. These labs are scheduled to coincide with the animals' annual examination and treatment which provides a hands-on opportunity for course participants.
